The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has taken sweeping disciplinary actions against several clubs participating in the ongoing National Third Division Playoffs, sending a strong message about the need for discipline, accountability, and respect for the rules of the game.
In two separate communications issued by the Competitions Manager Joel S. Freeman, the LFA penalized Wein Town United, YSSCI FC, and SUSA FC for various breaches ranging from misconduct by club officials to violent fan behavior and failure to fulfill home club responsibilities.
Following the June 5 match between Wein Town United and YSSCI FC at the Nancy Doe Stadium in Kakata, the LFA found both clubs guilty of misconduct and regulatory violations.
YSSCI FC was fined L$3,000 for refusing to use the designated dressing room, which the LFA described as a violation of the “brand, standard and dignity of football.
The FA instructed the team to make payment of the fine before their return leg in Bassa County.
Wein Town United was also fined L$ 3,000 for fielding a goalkeeper in an unauthorized jersey and failing to inform match officials.
The club’s president, Jerome Noah, faces a two-match suspension after being accused of violently seizing gate proceeds and using abusive language against Margibi Sub-Association officials.
The club was also required to return L$ 15,800 in proceeds before their return match.
Schiefflin United Sports Association (SUSA) Football Club, another third division side, was handed multiple penalties for incidents during their June 1 match against Loopers Football Club, also held at the Nancy Doe Stadium.
The club was accused of failing to report ticket sales for 150 tickets and neglecting to carry out key home club duties.
The situation escalated during the game when SUSA FC fans threw stones at players and officials of Loopers FC.
Moreover, SUSA FC player Onolay Fayiah, who wore jersey number 2, was found guilty of throwing stones at the Venue Coordinator and an opposing player. He has been suspended for six months.
SUSA FC has been ordered to refund L$ 11,250, representing 50% of ticket revenue, and will play their next three home games outside Margibi County as a reprimand.
The LFA’s recent actions mark a significant stance in upholding discipline and integrity within Liberia’s lower football divisions.
The association emphasized that such misconduct undermines the sport’s growth and will not be tolerated.
