LAA Boss Lauds Boakai For Turkish Technical Team’s Assessment At RIA

The Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Jero H. Mends-Cole, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Joseph Boakai for facilitating and approving the recent visit of the Turkish technical team to assess the Roberts International Airport (RIA).
During the assessment, key areas examined include the airport terminals, the runway, the Apron/Ramp, the Rescue and firefighting department, the Air Traffic Control Tower, the Electrical Power House, the Security Systems, the Monitoring & Luggage Systems, among other facilities.
In a statement released yesterday, June 16, 2025, MD Mends-Cole acknowledged President Boakai’s pivotal role in clearing the way for the assessment of the Airport, which has laid the groundwork for significant improvements to the airport’s infrastructure and operations.
He expressed, “The President’s visionary leadership and commitment to enhancing our nation’s aviation infrastructure have made it possible for the Roberts International Airport, the Flagship airport managed by the Liberia Airport Authority, to be assessed through global eyes.”
“This is a move which we believe will generate some great dividends for our country, and help in realising the President’s dream of making the Roberts International Airport an airbridge to the rest of the world,” Mends-Cole noted.
MD Mends-Cole further narrated that he sees the recognition as an accomplishment for all workers and partners of the Airport.
He added, “As we strive to collectively achieve our performance targets in 2025 under the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS), in serving the Liberian people, we see the recognition of the President as an accomplishment for the workforce and partners of LAA.
The Turkish technical delegation, composed of six esteemed experts in airport development, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, visited the RIA to evaluate the potential for needed upgrades that will enhance operational capacity and activities.
