The House of Representatives is currently reviewing a bill that seeks to establish a new national holiday, “All Liberia Presidents’ Day,” aimed at honoring the leadership and legacy of all former Presidents of Liberia.

The proposed legislation, titled “An Act to Create All Liberia Presidents’ Day,” was introduced by Rep. Dixon W. Seboe, Representative of Montserrado County District 16. It was formally presented during the House’s regular session on Thursday, June 5, 2025, for consideration and further legislative action.

In his presentation, Rep. Seboe noted that Liberia has had 25 presidents, each serving during different historical periods and contributing uniquely to the nation’s development. Currently, only two former presidents Joseph Jenkins Roberts (March 15) and William V.S. Tubman (November 29) are recognized with national holidays marking their birthdays.

“Every president has made contributions worthy of recognition. This bill seeks to establish a single day to honor all our presidents to reflect on their leadership, the challenges they faced, and their impact on Liberia’s history and progress,” Rep. Seboe stated.

Following the reading of the bill, a motion was passed to refer it to the Committees on Good Governance, Internal Affairs, and Judiciary for further review. These committees are expected to evaluate the proposal and present their findings and recommendations to the full House.

If enacted, “All Liberia Presidents’ Day” would become an official public holiday, offering an opportunity for national reflection on the role of presidential leadership in Liberia’s journey.
