Elijah Rufus has gotten the blessing of 21 out of the 30 senators sitting in the Liberian Senate to serve as Commissioner General (U-300) of the Commissioner General of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS).

The LIS boss recently appeared before the Liberian Senate for confirmation in May but was rescheduled for in -house confirmation due to the security nature on issues confronting Liberia’s borders and others joint security matters.

Following the Senate Chairman on National Security and Veteran Affairs mandate on the hearing to be rescheduled in the Committee room of the Liberian Senate, LIS Commissioner General was asked to reappear with all the relevant concerns raised by some Senators.

Last Thursday on May 29, 2025 Rufus appeared with those concerns thus allowing the Senate to take approximate action of his confirmation on Tuesday June 3, 2025 in its chamber at the Capitol Hill.
According to a report gathered, at the confirmation news of Rufus, immigration Officers have started the celebration across the country terming it as “God has truly answered our prayers.”
