The Liberia National Police (LNP) have launched an investigation into the tragic death of a two-year-old boy, Erasmus Doe, who reportedly fell into an open pit in Harper City on Friday May 23, 2025.
According to the Crime Statistics Division of the LNP, the incident occurred following an overnight search after the child was reported missing late Friday, May 23.
His lifeless body was discovered early Saturday morning by family and community members.
Preliminary police reports indicate that Erasmus fell into a hole allegedly dug by Rev. Lemeo G. Ivy, 49, a resident of Pleebo Mission Town, Zone #1.
Rev. Ivy told police the pit was intended to be used as a septic tank.
The child’s grandmother, Beatrice Toe, 41, said she was unwell and resting at the time of the incident.
