President Joseph Boakai, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Liberia’s former First Lady, Madam Nancy Bohn Doe, describing her passing as a significant loss to the nation.
In an official message of condolence issued over the weekend, President Boakai extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved Doe Family on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in his own name.
President Boakai remembered Madam Doe as a woman of “grace and dignity” who dutifully served the country during a defining period in Liberia’s history.
He highlighted her strength, compassion, and commitment to both her family and the nation while serving in the role of First Lady.
Recalling his own experience working alongside her during the administration of the late Head of State, Samuel K. Doe, the Liberian leader described Madam Doe’s life as one of resilience and national service, noting that it was marked by personal sacrifice.
“While history may record the complexities and tumult of that era, we as a nation must rise in acknowledgment of the honorable and courageous path of our fallen compatriot,” President Boakai said.
He added that Madam Doe’s legacy remains a part of Liberia’s broader historical narrative and urged the nation to keep her loved ones in prayer.
“I therefore enjoin the nation to pray that the Almighty will grant her eternal rest and comfort her loved ones with peace and strength in this period of loss,” the President concluded.
