Representative Clarence G. Gahr of Margibi electoral district 5 has donated 20 motorbikes valued at about US$20,000 to the United Borlorla Parking Motorcyclists (UBPAM) in a significant move to support local transportation and honor his campaign pledge.
The motorbikes were officially handed over during an elaborate ceremony held on Wednesday June 4, 2025 at Perkin Town, Benda Clan, Borlorla Township.
The United Borlorla Parking Motorcyclists, a group of about 60 motorcyclists who operate around the LoneStar Cell MTN head office in Kakata, provide daily passenger transport services along Borlorla Road.
The new motorbikes, each valued at US$1,000, are expected to enhance their operations and contribute to the growth of their institution.
Aaron Z. Weetor, resource officer in the office of Rep. Gahr, explained that the donation was a direct fulfillment of a campaign promise made during the 2023 legislative and presidential elections.
He said during the campaign, UBPAM requested a written agreement with Rep. Gahr, stipulating that if he won, he would provide the group with 20 black exhaust motorbikes to help them build a sustainable transport entity.
“Rep. Gahr signed an agreement with them that once the motorcyclists backed him, and he was successful, they would receive these motorbikes, and today we are proud to fulfill that promise,” Weetor said.
Rep. Gahr emphasized the vital role motorcyclists play in modern society. He recalled how, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, transportation was a major challenge due to the scarcity of vehicles and motorcycles.
Gahr added that the presence of motorbikes has since revolutionized local transport, making it easier for people to commute.
He also highlighted the crucial role motorcyclists play in emergency situations, often transporting patients to health facilities where ambulances cannot reach.
“Supporting motorcyclists is not a waste; it is supporting a crucial part of society, and I want to say thank you for your contributions you have made. Don’t make yourself less important, you are very important,” Gahr stated.

He urged the motorcyclists to maintain unity beyond political campaigns, Rep. Gahr urged the motorcyclists to remain united beyond political campaigns to strengthen their voice and prevent external influences from dividing them. He reminded them that transport is one of the biggest industries globally and encouraged them to speak with one voice to strengthen their position.
Rep. Gahr assured his constituents that fulfilling campaign promises is a priority for him, and that the motorbike donation is just the beginning of many initiatives planned for UBPAM and the district.
Emmanuel Moses, chairman of UBPAM, accepted the motorbikes on behalf of the group.
He praised Rep. Gahr for keeping his word and assured that the motorbikes would be used strictly for their intended purpose, enhancing the livelihoods of the motorcyclists and improving transportation services in the area.
This donation marks a milestone in Margibi’s local transport sector and sets a positive example of accountability and community support by elected officials.
