A young man identified as Nelson Akpos Orov has reportedly forced into exile following a series of chilling death threats and a brutal attack orchestrated by unidentified assailants suspected to be members of the United Brothers for Friendship, a secret society.
The group reportedly comprises influential individuals from various sectors, including politicians, businesspeople, and security officials from security apparatus.
Nelson’s said his life changed from being free and peaceful to being deadly prey right after the burial of his father as members of the UBF summoned him to attend meetings of the Brotherhood at their lodge on Benson Street in Monrovia as his father’s heir.
However, he declined the invitation, citing his Christian faith and principles. Upon his refusal to join the Brotherhood, he started receiving death threats and intimidation, including mysterious calls and inscriptions on his property, urging him to comply.
Speaking from an undisclosed location, he detailed the hurtful experience of his abduction and torture that occurred on the evening of May 28, 2023, as well as his desperate escape from the clutches of an alleged occult society.
He recounted that while on his way to purchase groceries at the store at about 6 PM on May 28, a gray SUV Jeep violently packed on the sidewalk right before him, immediately four unknown guys descended upon him, forcibly shoving him into the vehicle.
aDespite struggles and screams he was taken away with a gun at him to silence as abductor helplessly drove him to an undisclosed location resembling a warehouse.
He stated that he overheard a phone conversation confirming his capture. He was then injected with an unknown substance into his thighs, rendering his legs numb.
For days, the victim languished in pain from torture and minimal food before being forced to sign a document swearing to keep his abduction a secret else he would face death.
After that, he was dropped at a junction and left to grapple with infected legs that required urgent medical attention.
Meanwhile, before his abduction and fearing for his life, the young man filed an official complaint with the Liberian National Police on March 8, 2023.
Despite reaching out to the police multiple times, the man found no relief, as some within the police force allegedly suspected of being involved with the occult group.
Desperate to escape the clutches of a powerful and dangerous adversary, the victim reached out to family members for financial assistance to flee the country.
Citing the looming threat and the insurmountable danger posed by the mysterious group, the young man made the agonizing decision to run for his life, haunted by the traumatic experiences that now serve as a stark warning of the perilous world he found himself entangled in.
This disturbing incident sheds light on the shadowy world of secret societies and how far some people can go to acquire power and influence.
