Elizabeth, Malita-Whose Telling The Truth? …As Siblings Clash Over John Hilary Tubman’s Estate Heirship

Attorneys-in-fact for the oldest daughter of John Hilary Tubman, Elizabeth Tubman, commonly known as “Baby Sister,” have issued a statement clarifying the rightful heirs to the late John Hilary Tubman estate. 

Attorneys-in-fact Kelvin Walters, James Sunday Bryant, and Abdurahmen Barrie said they have reached out to shareholders, tenants, and the public to address misconceptions regarding the heirs of the estate.

The Attorneys-in-fact, in their statement issued yesterday in Monrovia, emphasized that Elizabeth is not only a biological daughter of John Hilary Tubman but also one of the administratrixes of his estate, highlighting that John Hilary Tubman was never married, which raises questions about the legitimacy of other claims to his estate.

It can be recalled that Malita Tubman, claiming to be the ‘only biological’ daughter and rightful heir of the late John Hilary Tubman issued a strong warning to the public and all stakeholders against dealing with any individual falsely claiming ownership of the John Hilary Tubman Estate.

According to her, the ownership of the estate is currently before the Supreme Court and until a final ruling is made, no one else has the legal right to sell, lease, or transact any business related to the property.

Ms Tubman, in an official statement issued in Monrovia last week Tuesday, May 20, 2025, said she has not authorized any third party to act on her behalf indicating, and warned, “Anyone doing business with others claiming to be owners or representatives of the estate is doing so at their own risk and may face serious legal consequences.”

She added, “These impostors have already defrauded tenants of more than US$80,000 in violation of court orders, and they are operating illegally and will be held accountable under the law.” 

Ms. Tubman further stated that one of the imposters who threatened the life of her brother, William Gabriel Tucker, is currently under investigation by the Cold Case Division of the Liberia National Police. 

She maintained, “He was overheard openly threatening my brother, saying he would be killed the same way they killed our father, John Hilary Tubman. We are not taking this matter and all the associated falsehoods lightly.”

She further expressed confidence that the police would pursue the matter to a logical conclusion and also strongly rejected malicious rumors questioning her mental fitness, and said, “I am well and fit; I have never been declared unfit by any doctor or court.”

Ms. Tubman urged all tenants and the general public to refrain from engaging in any form of business with anyone other than herself or her officially recognized legal team regarding the estate.

“These lies are defamatory and meant to damage or misrepresent me. Legal action will be taken against anyone spreading such false claims. Any payments made or agreements entered into with unauthorized individuals are invalid and could result in serious legal consequences,” she added.

“We, kelvin Walters, James Sunday Bryant and Abdurahmen Barrie, attorneys-in fact for Elizabeth Tubman commonly called (baby sister), oldest daughter of the late john Hilary Tubman, presently residing in the united states of America, and one of the administratrixes of estate, who wish to inform all shareholders, tenants, and the public, that Malita Tubman is not the only biological daughter or heir of the late john Hilary Tubman’s estate, as john Hilary Tubman was never married and that he legitimized his daughter Elizabeth Tubman and also acknowledged her as his daughter, we cannot confirm whether the same was done for Malita Tubman.”

“We also want to inform the public that it is Gabriel Tucker, cousin of Malita, as she Malita was raised by his parents, who are conducting illegal and fraudulent acts by selling, leasing, and collecting funds, etc. Even though there is a stay order from the monthly and probate court that the john Hilary Tubman’s estate is being supervised and remains under the court until a determination is made by the honorable supreme court regarding who are the legal heirs and beneficiaries of the said estate.”

“We also want to inform the public that the case at the police station is a separate and distinct matter between Gabriel Tucker and Kelvin Walters (one of the attorneys -in fact) for Elizabeth Tubman. When kelvin posted the notice on the property informing everyone that the late john Hilary Tubman home in Fiama was not for sale or for lease; as Elizabeth had been informed that Malita and Gabriel were selling or had sold their father’s home to ECB jones company ( land and housing development inc.) Kelvin was arrested and taken to the city court, after the hearing there were exchanges between Gabriel tucker and Kelvin Walters wherein kelvin was told you are not a relative of john Tubman “what do you have to do with his estate and in kelvin’s reply he stated, I am a Tubman as I am Victoria Tubman’s child and an attorney in fact for Elizabeth and based on the way the conversation went, Gabriel and his lawyer went to complain to the police station. The case at the police station is on hold as the complainants have failed and refused to appear for the investigation or hearing as kelvin and his lawyer have appeared more than three times for the hearing. That the statement reference what was said by kelvin is a mere allegation and a hearsay statement which has not been proven as same is false and a misrepresentation of the facts.so who is doing the illegal and fraudulent acts or is an illegal person?”

“We the attorneys-in-fact wish to again advise the public, shareholders, tenants and citizens that anyone who have purchased, leased, or given funds to Malita Tubman who is claiming to be the only heir and only biological child of the late john Hilary Tubman, will be doing so at their own risk as the case is before the honorable supreme court, and we are all awaiting final ruling.
