Sheikh Ishaka Sumaworo has warned against people branding the Islamic religion as a faith bent on what he calls “extremism.”

Sheikh Sumaworo, Head of the Sahaba Institute High School in Liberia said, Almighty Allah prohibits extremism in the Islamic religion because, according to him, there is no word being called extremism in Islam.

Delivering his sermon at this year’s observance of Abraham Day at the Heritage Mosque on Gurley Street in Monrovia, he entreated all Liberian Muslims to shun detractors of their religious faith bent on calling them extremists, and to be moderate in propagating the Islam from the teachings of the Holy Koran as well.

On the flipside, Sheikh Sumaworo opined that there is currently a generation gap in the nation as the younger ones who supposed to help transform the country are taking on different trend to the backwardness of society due to lack of good citizenship.

According to the Islamic cleric, everything under this generation has been changed as nothing is looking normal, but was quick to add that there’s still room for the minds of young people to be molded and transformed to withstand future challenges.

On the issue of the rule of law in the country, Sheikh Sumaworo, who happens to be one of the sons of the Grand Mufti of the Supreme Council of Fatwa of Liberia, Sheikh Abubakar M. Sumaworo, explained that the agenda has to be achieved.

He voiced that good citizenship can never be applied fully unless the security of the people is guaranteed, saying getting in life is part of the elements that bring about good citizenship in a country with Liberia been of no exception.

The Head of Sahaba Institute High School noted: “Allah told us that those who believe in him and his oneness and respect constituted authorities, their security will be protected through His grace and thereafter He will save them from hell fire.”

Against this backdrop, Sheikh Sumaworo used the occasion by calling on Liberians Muslims to subscribe to the true teaching of the Holy Koran in performing their religious duties, propagate Islam without being intolerant of others religious beliefs/doctrines.

“Don’t involve religious duties as Muslims with different ideologies except the Holy Koran and the Hadiths,” the Islamic preacher and educator admonished worshipers at the Heritage Mosque when he gave his Abraham Day sermon.
