President Joseph Boakai cabinet has formally endorsed the major outcomes of the 2024 IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings, reaffirming the government’s dedication to aligning national development goals with global economic strategies.
During the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT)’s regular press briefing, Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah announced that the endorsement followed a comprehensive report delivered by the Liberian delegation that attended the Washington, D.C. meetings.
Minister Piah explained that the delegation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, the Central Bank of Liberia, and other economic entities, engaged with international financial partners on pressing issues such as debt sustainability, economic resilience, and private sector investment.
“The Cabinet has unanimously endorsed the outcomes of these high-level engagements. The administration considers them critical to advancing the ARREST Agenda, particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, and education,” said Minister Piah
He added that the Spring Meetings presented a valuable opportunity for Liberia to deepen its partnerships with global donors and financial institutions, paving the way for increased strategic financing, technical support, and development assistance over the next five years.
The Cabinet has instructed relevant ministries and agencies to align their policies and budget plans with the recommendations and opportunities identified during the meetings.
This decision, Minister Piah emphasized, highlights President Boakai’s commitment to results-oriented leadership and reflects the administration’s focus on delivering meaningful progress for the Liberian people through enhanced international collaboration and strong domestic governance.
