Ahead of the National County Sports Meet, Bomi County Representative, Edwin Melvin Snowe, has presented a huge consignment of sporting materials to the football and kickball team of the county.
The presentation of the sporting supplies was made over the weekend in Tubmanburg, Bomi County at which time the Bomi Lawmaker extended heartfelt appreciation to President George M. Weah, who he said made meaningful contribution towards the gesture.
Rep. Snowe presented two sets of jerseys for both football and kickball teams. Snowe who is also the former President of the FA, provided other sporting materials including 30 pieces of boots, balls, 20-pieces of track suits for the kickball team and 30-pieces of track suit for the football team amongst other things. The total worth of the items was put at US$7,500.
Snowe who led the county to the County Meet Football Championship last season, also presented a cash purse of L$100,000 to the county’s teams.
Rep. Snowe termed the gesture as his own way of encouraging the county’s teams ahead of the tournament. He said, the donation is an add-on to what others have already assisted the teams with, stressing that it is also a way to begin preparation and encourage other stakeholders to support the county. He wished the players well and promised to always be around whenever he is needed.
In response, the players shouted hero, hero, hero. They thanked the Bomi lawmaker for the gesture and vowed to not disappoint the county. The ceremony was attended by other executives of Bomi County Sports Association and the Superintendent office.
Bomi County is the reigning football Champions of the National County Sports Meet.
