In a heartfelt demonstration of support for inclusive education and spiritual development, the Bible Society of Liberia, in collaboration with the United Bible Societies, has donated essential educational materials to two institutions serving the visually impaired.
The beneficiaries of the donation include the Liberia School for the Blind in Mombo Town, Virginia, and the Christian Association of the Blind National Resource Center located along the Monrovia-Robertsfield Highway.
Speaking during the presentation ceremonies, Program Manager of the Bible Society of Liberia, Jerry WoloForkay, emphasized the organization’s commitment to empowering visually impaired individuals through education and faith.
He stated that the donated items are aimed at enhancing independent mobility, educational advancement, and spiritual growth for the students.
“These educational assistance instruments are intended to help the students move independently, pursue their education, and access the Word of God through talking Bibles,” said Mr. Forkay. “The Bible Society takes seriously the spiritual and educational development of visually impaired people.”
Items donated include white canes, audio Bibles, braille slates and styluses, among other critical learning aids.
Receiving the donation, Mr. Jackson Suah, Principal of the Liberia School for the Blind, expressed gratitude for what he described as a timely intervention. “Most of our students lack basic learning materials.
This donation comes at a time when our needs are greatest,” he noted, while urging the Bible Society to continue its support for the institution.
Similarly, Mr. Jacob Joe, Program Manager of the Christian Association of the Blind, lauded the Bible Society for its generosity.
He assured that the donated materials would be used effectively, citing a current shortage of teaching tools at the center.
The Bible Society’s delegation was led by Mr. Forkay and accompanied by the Church Relations Officer, Reverend FayiahTamba.
This latest act of generosity underscores the Bible Society of Liberia’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive education and ensure that the Word of God is accessible to all, regardless of physical limitations.
