The Grand Bassa County Administration has formally handed over the management of county-owned scrap materials to a newly established oversight body the Committee for Accountability and Management.

The symbolic handover ceremony, held at the county administrative grounds, was witnessed by members of the new committee, representatives of the local media, and county officials. During the event, keys to the scrap storage facility were officially presented to the committee, marking the transition of responsibility.

Bunty Lee, Chairperson of the Committee for Accountability and Management, expressed deep appreciation to the county administration for the confidence placed in the team.

“We are honored to be entrusted with this responsibility and pledge to manage the scrap materials with the utmost diligence, transparency, and integrity,” Lee declared during her remarks.

The newly formed committee is expected to oversee the handling, storage, and potential repurposing or sale of the scrap materials, which include decommissioned machinery, metal parts, and other obsolete assets previously owned by the county.

Speaking at the event, County Information Officer Garway underscored the importance of managing these materials as valuable county assets. He noted that when managed properly, the scrap could provide tangible benefits to the residents of Grand Bassa.

“Proper management and accountability are crucial to ensuring resources are utilized effectively for the development of Grand Bassa County,” Garway said, calling on the committee to lead with transparency and uphold the public trust.

The formation of the Committee for Accountability and Management is part of a broader initiative by the Grand Bassa County Administration to promote good governance and prudent use of public resources. With rising public demand for transparency and community development, the move is seen as a step toward greater accountability in the county’s management of state assets.

As the committee assumes its new responsibilities, residents and stakeholders have mentioned that they will be watching closely to see how the scrap materials are transformed into opportunities for progress and sustainability in Grand Bassa County.
