The Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police (LNP) in Harper arrested 20-year-old Ruth Teah, for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend by squeezing his private part during a heated argument.
According to police sources, Ms. Teah once attempted to kill Ezekiel Bedell following an argument over his alleged relationship with another woman.
Maryland County Gender Coordinator, Madam Mariah Suku, confirmed the incident in an exclusive interview on March 7, 2025, in Harper City.
She stated that the altercation stemmed from an argument over allegations of infidelity.
“Eyewitnesses reported that Bedell and his girlfriend, Ruth Teah, have had frequent disputes regarding suspicions of cheating,” Madam Suku disclosed.
She explained that on the night of the incident, Bedell returned home after watching a Barcelona football match when Ms. Teah confronted him about his whereabouts.
In an attempt to avoid conflict, Bedell reportedly ignored her and proceeded to take a bath.
“According to witness accounts, Ruth Teah followed him into the bathroom, grabbed his private part, and squeezed it forcefully until he ejaculated,” Madam Suku narrated.
Bedell’s cry for help alerted community members, who rushed him to J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Madam Suku further revealed that this was not the first time Teah had allegedly attempted to harm Bedell over suspicions of infidelity.
She urged the Liberia National Police and the judiciary to take the matter seriously, emphasizing that gender-based violence is not limited to women and children but affects both men and women.
“The Ministry of Gender and Social Protection is committed to ensuring justice for all, regardless of gender,” she asserted.
