President Joseph Boakai has urged newly commissioned diplomats to represent Liberia with dedication, integrity, and a profound sense of national pride.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held at the Executive Mansion on March 4, 2025, President Boakai emphasized that diplomacy is not merely a temporary role but a lifelong commitment to serving the country’s interests.
According to him, diplomats carry the image of their nation. “No other nation can build Liberia for us; it is our responsibility,” President Boakai stated.
He reminded the appointees that public office is not about personal ambition but about serving the Liberian people, who have placed their trust in them.
President Boakai underscored the importance of effective representation on the global stage. “Our voice matters and our role is significant. Representing Liberia is not an easy task, but with dedication, we can make a difference,” he said.
He also called on all Liberians to contribute to national development, urging citizens to embrace responsibility and work toward progress. “Let us all play our part in building our beloved country,” he concluded.
Speaking on behalf of the commissioned ambassadors, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the values of diplomacy and serving Liberia with distinction in their various missions.
According to him, they understand the importance of their roles in fostering cooperation, understanding, and mutual respect between nations.
He added that, the ceremony highlights the significance of diplomacy in advancing Liberia’s interests and contributing to global peace and development.
He expressed deep gratitude to President Boakai for entrusting them with the responsibility of representing Liberia abroad.
Dr. Conteh pledged that they would work diligently to promote and strengthen bilateral relations between Liberia and their respective countries of assignment.
He also acknowledged the support of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and her capable team, the Chair and Members of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as friends, family, and well-wishers for their confirmation and support.
The commissioning of the diplomats marks a crucial step in strengthening Liberia’s foreign relations, with the newly appointed ambassadors set to advocate for national interests and foster international partnerships.
