A 45-year-old farmer, Charles Freeman, has been confirmed dead after a tree fell on him while he was working on his farmland in Webbo Wlegboken, River Gee County.
Family sources told The Inquirer Newspaper that Freeman was engaged in agricultural activities when the fatal incident occurred.
According to his wife, Martha Freeman, the deceased had been attempting to burn down a tree for several days to clear space for farming. She recounted that after multiple failed attempts to remove the tree, her husband took a break under a nearby tank. Tragically, the tree collapsed and struck him, leading to his untimely death.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred on March 29, 2025, leaving relatives and community members devastated. A 15-man coroner juror has since ruled out foul play in the case.
Meanwhile, the family has retrieved Freeman’s remains for burial as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
