By Solomon T Gaye
District Education Officer (DEO) Nyan Vahn, has embarked on touring of Bain- Garr education district in Nimba county.
Speaking to the Inquirer, Vahn disclosed that the tour is designed to audit the credentials of teachers at various public, private, community and faith base schools in the district. The visits, according to the DEO seeks to further inspect MOE’s school permit, school registration, among others.
According to the DEO, Bain-Garr education district is comprised of over 18 public schools with over 80 private schools coupled with other community schools operating in the district.
“The tour if completed will create job opportunities for qualified teachers at other private and community schools in the district.
“The Ministry of Education Bain-Garr sub office has observed that many of the teachers at various private, community, faith base schools lack education credentials while some schools have not updated their school permit and school business registrations,” DEO Vahn pointed out.
The Bain-Garr DEO is among the Ministry of Education newly appointed DEOs who replaced outgone DEO Abel Legay.
Nimba School System is comprised of 435 public schools with over 150 private schools, 13 education districts, 13 DEOs, that supervise the daily running of the school schools system under the supervision of the county education officer Francis Legay.
“The inspection, if completed, will strengthen the education sector with more qualified teachers at many of the private, faith base, community senior high schools operating in the district, “Bain- Garr DEO Vahn said.
However, the Bain-Garr District Education Officer remains tight-lipped on penalty that will be meted against schools falling short of the Ministry of Education requirements during his inspection.
If this is not another mere talk, the public waits to see how the result of the inspection will add quality to the already challenged educational environment in the county.
