Seven Bed-room House Gutted Fire In Nimba

There were shouting, wailing and weeping when a house comprised of seven bed rooms gutted fire in Gompa City on January 2, 2025, in Nimba County.
Speaking to this paper in the Congo Community in Gompa City, Nathan Zain, explained that the house gutted fire on that fateful Thursday evening while all of its occupants were out.
According to Zain, L$ 63, 000 in physical cash including other valuable household materials left in the razing fire.
“The house was built in early 1965 by our mother Yah Zain, aged 65, along with seven family members,” Zain lamented.
“The family members are now homeless seeking refuge in nearby family houses. All the materials that were in the house, including money all, got burnt, therefore we are appealing for help to rebuild the house,” Zain disclosed.
Also speaking to this outlet, Josephine Zain explained her ordeal of L$ 25,000 along with US$50 left in her room and got burnt.
She further disclosed that she and her children are now stopping with friends in the same community.
Nimba is among the 15 counties that boast of a modern fire fighter truck but, continues to experience more fire incidents since the beginning of 2024.
Since the beginning of September 2024, to date, about seven dwelling homes have reportedly been destroyed by fire including two gas stations under the watchful eyes of LNFRS in Nimba.
