Prelate Calls For National Observance Of Easter

The General Overseer of the Liberian Christian Fellowship in the borough of New Kru Town, near Monrovia, Rev. Caleb Jukon has resounded calls for nationwide observance of Easter as a Christian religious festival.

Beginning today Friday, April 18, 2025 Rev. Jukon said Liberians should work on every action to ensure that Easter on the Christian calendar is celebrated by the country like every other national holiday.

He described the festivity surrounding Easter as a time for sober reflection for Christians in Liberia to draw closer to God in renewal of their faith, which is the most delicate part of their everyday lives.

According to Rev. Jukon, in order to strengthen and consolidate the churches of Liberia, religious institutions must duly mark the occasion with practices closely associated with its celebration.

As part of the initiatives to reinforce the move in making this festivity appreciable to others, he disclosed that his church is poised to host its annual Easter convention beginning today Friday, April 18, 2025 in celebration of the death of Christ.

The three-day event, which is expected to climax on Sunday with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is celebrated by Christian denominations worldwide.

“Easter is a Christian festival which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many Christians, Easter is a celebration of the triumph of life over death, and a very important time of the year,” he explained.

Rev. Jukon said the event taking place at the Liberian Christian Fellowship in the borough of New Kru Town is part of the church’s religious traditions that have been observed by the church from time to time.

He said the occasion will be an illustrious one that will witness the participation of a series of churches from different hooks of Liberia.

In a statement with reporters recently, Rev. Jukon remarked that the widely-publicized church service is expected to witness an array of international guest preachers as well as other local Preachers who have already arrived in the country and will officiate the religious gathering.

The man of God also reminded Liberians to be cognizant of their faith and that they must set aside the holy day to regard the passion of Christ.

He believes Easter is not just merely an event, but a time of sober reflection for Christians to draw closer to God as a semblance of sacredness.

The church’s General Overseer made the remarks recently in an interview with reporters.
