“No Early Childhood Education In Curriculum”  -Says Principal In Nimba

By Solomon T. Gaye/Nimba

The principal of the  government-run John Wesley Pearson kindergarten school Yei  Dolo, says the lack of Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum is hampering the kindergarten learning in Gompa, Nimba County.

Speaking to the Inquirer Newspaper, Principal Dolo disclosed that the  lack of curriculum, chairs, textbooks, and other teaching and learning materials are some contributing factors to the school’s operation.

According to Principal Dolo, the school has the enrollment  of 210 students with five government teachers respectively.

“The campus lacks security to guide the facilities. A lot of unwholesome acts are carried out on the campus at night, adding, “burglary is on the increase on the campus at night  while the  campus turns motel for the Zogoes under the cover of darkness,” J.W. Pearson kindergarten Principal Yei Dolo, pointed out.

“Alleged delay of WFP food supply to the school is also contributing to the low enrollment, on grounds that since December 2024, the school supply is still pending,” Principal Dolo informed the press.

The J. W. Pearson Kindergarten is among government pre-primary schools that are highly populated.

The kindergarten is a part of the J.W. Pearson High School with over two thousand school going children, with three separate principals heading the kindergarten, elementary and junior high and the senior high respectively.

When contacted, the administrative assistant at the Bain-Garr DEO’s office in Gompa, remain tight-lipped and referred the paper to DEO Nyan Vahn.

When contacted, DEO Vahn, said MOE has enough teaching curricula for public schools.

“The information has not reached my office regarding a constraint or other issues as reportedly outlined by Principal Yei Dolo,” DEO Vahn intimated.
