“MOVE FAST TO SAVE THE STATE” —Redired Captain Urges Boakai

 By Patrick Stephen Tokpah/BONG

A former captain of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Jerry Kerkulah Kollie, has termed the current state of Liberia as a time bomb.

In an inclusive interview with journalists in Gbarnga, Bong County on March 2, 2025, Captain Kollie called on members of the AFL and the Liberia National Police (LNP), to desist from hooliganism and live their true meaning as civil and territorial defenders of the country.

He alarmed over what he called uncontrollable lawlessness at all levels of the country and called for a collective involvement of all sectors to prevent the country from further degenerating into chaos.

Making special reference to Wednesday, February 26, 2025, incident which witnessed the embarrassing brutalization of police officers by some soldiers of the Army in Paynesville, Captain Kollie called on the government to quickly arrest these rapidly growing lawless acts before they engulf the entire country in a situation that could derail the hard-earned peace and stability.

He particularly urged authorities of the AFL and LNP to nurture a cordial relationship and make proper use of their duty manuals and other disciplinary instruments to maintain respect and public confidence in the two premier security institutions.

Captain Kollie repeated call for President Joseph Boakai to stamp his authority and strengthen control over the state in line with his constitutional power, authority, and responsibilities as President and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
