The contribution comes at a time when the company has temporarily closed its operations, a move that has impacted several communities that depend on the company’s presence.
The Public Relations Officer of MNG Gold Liberia, Matthew Gbanken, said the medical supplies donated is intended to enhance the healthcare delivery system.
Gbanken emphasized that the medical supplies include first aid kits and medicines, amongst others.
He underscores MNG Gold’s ongoing efforts to support the health and well-being of the people in the affected communities, even as it navigates operational challenges.
Matthew Gbanken told journalists over the weekend that despite the temporary closure, MNG Gold Liberia has remained committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities, recognizing the importance of investing in community health, especially during uncertain times.
The Sayewheh Town Clinic, which serves a large portion of the population in the vicinity of the company’s operations, expressed immense gratitude for the timely donation, which will help bolster its resources in providing essential health services.
Receiving the medical supplies, the Clinic’s Officer in Charge (OIC), Melvin Dowah, lauded the management of the company for the continued investment in the health sector, noting the positive impact on local residents of Bong County Electoral District 1.
Dowah revealed that the medical supplies donated highlight the company’s dedication to the region’s well-being, adding it also serves as an example of corporate goodwill during periods of economic or operational difficulty.
He further assured the management of the Turkish mining company that the medical supplies would be used for its intended purpose.
It can be recalled that in 2022, the management of MNG Gold Liberia, a Turkish gold mining company, clarified that it was not closing its operations, but it was rather slowing its operations in the county due to the downward trend in the price of gold on the world market.
