Ministry Probes 3 Mining Agents

The Ministry of Mines and Energy has launched an investigation into allegations of misconduct involving three of its Mining Agents.
The Ministry, acting through its Bureau of Mines, announced the immediate recall of the officials pending the outcome of the investigation.
Mining Agent Samuel Fahn, previously assigned to Henry Town in Gbarpolu County, has been recalled over allegations of wrongdoing in the execution of his official duties.
During the course of the investigation, Paul Mulbah has been appointed to serve as Acting Mining Agent in Henry Town.
Similar administrative actions have been taken in Fuamah-1 & 2 in Bong County and the Gbarma Mining District in Gbarpolu County.
Donald C. Wesseh, the Mining Agent in Fuamah-1 & 2, has been recalled and replaced by Charles Kortail as Acting Mining Agent. In Gbarma, Solomon G. Jacobs has been recalled, with Amos Weah Toe appointed to serve in an acting capacity.
The Ministry said the actions are part of its ongoing efforts to ensure that all personnel carry out their responsibilities in alignment with government policies and ethical standards.
It emphasized that the recalled agents are under investigation for alleged misconduct while managing the affairs of the Ministry in their respective districts.
“These actions should serve as a deterrent to any acts incompatible with the duties and responsibilities of Mining Agents and Inspectors,” the Ministry said in a statement. “We expect all employees to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and steer clear of unlawful activities.”
In a related development, the Bureau of Mines addressed a recent media report regarding the death of an individual believed to be an illicit miner in Markweh Clan, Todee District.
The Bureau clarified that, while the incident is tragic, it involved no employee of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process, ensuring that any allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated in accordance with the law.
