Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France, Teeko T. Yorlay, has recently engaged with the French Foreign Ministry to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation between both countries.
The meeting was held Thursday, February 20, 2025, when Amb. Yorlay received the Deputy Director for State Protocol at the French Foreign Ministry, Mathieu Carmona, at the Embassy of Liberia in Paris, France.
The landmark meeting between the two diplomats was centered on finalizing protocols for Ambassador Yorlay’s forthcoming presentation of Letters of Credence to French President, Emmanuel Macron.
It also marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Liberia and France. Their discussions also focused on other issues critical to both countries, including attracting French investments to Liberia, partnering on global security issues, cordial working relations with his office, and other bilateral matters.
During the discussions, Yorlay and Carmona further addressed key diplomatic procedures to ensure a seamless accreditation process, reaffirming the long-standing relationship between Liberia and France.
The meeting further explored critical areas of mutual interest, including strategies to attract French investment to Liberia, enhance bilateral economic cooperation, and strengthen Liberia’s participation in global security initiatives.
Amb. Yorlay however underscored Liberia’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for French businesses, highlighting opportunities in infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and tourism.
He extended an invitation to French investors, emphasizing the Liberian government’s dedication to economic reform and development, including trade, education, and cultural exchange among others.
Yorlay further emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing global challenges, including climate change and security, where both countries can thrive, ensuring a more robust unity and bilateral relations.
The Liberian Ambassador further expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and continued collaboration, reaffirming Liberia’s unwavering commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with France.
In response, Mr. Carmona assured the Embassy of France’s full cooperation and support in facilitating Ambassador Yorlay’s formal accreditation and future engagements in the interest of both Liberia and France.
He also expressed their commitment to supporting Liberia’s development goals and fostering a robust partnership, aim to build on their historical ties, paving the way for increased investment and shared initiatives in the coming years.
Meanwhile, both parties also deliberated on deepening Liberia-France cooperation in global security matters, particularly in peacekeeping efforts, counterterrorism strategies, and transnational crime prevention.
The discussions also touched on ensuring a cordial and productive working relationship between the Liberian Embassy and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs towards reinforcing Liberia’s diplomatic presence in France, with a focus on fostering deeper economic and security partnerships for the mutual benefit of both nations.
