The Liberian Eco Tourism Exploration Incorporated (LETE), a Liberian-owned tour and tourism investment promotion enterprise, has officially launched its full tourism package for high school students, designed to immerse them in Liberia’s history, culture, and natural heritage.
The program, named the Martha M. Wright Heritage Tour for Schools, was unveiled during an official ceremony attended by key stakeholders in education and tourism.
The initiative aims to provide critical educational services to students and schools, alongside an annual cultural festival and inter-school competition, set to commence in the next academic school year.
The Martha M. Wright Heritage Tour is a specially crafted package designed by seasoned professionals of LETE to give students and school authorities a unique glimpse into Liberia’s history and cultural diversity.
It covers: Liberia’s historical experiences, stories of resilient communities, legendary figures and remarkable legacies, diverse ethnic groups and the formation of modern Liberia.
Each tour highlights Liberia’s rich cultural heritage, natural landmarks, and historical sites, aiming to build social cohesion, citizenship, and a sense of national identity among youth.
Speaking at the launch, Martha M. Wright Heritage Tour for Schools Manager Princess Howard-Tennie emphasized that the initiative integrates eco-cultural tourism with entertainment, offering students a learning adventure that blends education with leisure.
“This initiative fosters cultural understanding and empowers students with first-hand experiences that shape their identity,” she said.
She further disclosed that between May and November 2024, LETE held several discussions and a general workshop with school authorities and Parents-Teachers Associations (PTAs).
The program has already gained positive reception from students, parents, and schools.
However, financial constraints have prevented some interested institutions from signing up.
The Martha M. Wright Heritage Tour will cover seven major locations and approximately 35 tour sites across five counties, all carefully selected for historical and cultural significance.
CEO of LETE, George G. Wisner II elaborated on the importance of the program, describing it as a fusion of history, civics, culture, geography, and entertainment.
“This initiative is not just a tour—it is an immersive educational experience that combines Liberia’s past and present, providing students with an opportunity to connect with their heritage,” Wisner stated.
The official launch was graced by several dignitaries, including Madina Wesseh, who served as Chief Launcher, and Alexander B. Cummings, alongside representatives from partnering institutions.
The Liberian Eco Tourism Exploration Incorporated hopes this program will play a vital role in fostering national unity and boosting the country’s social and economic development.
