The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has destroyed a large quantity of seized illicit drugs in Foya District, Lofa County.
This action follows the interception of a major drug shipment on March 17, 2025. The case is currently before the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court of Lofa County, where legal proceedings are ongoing.
Today, in a public display of commitment to the fight against drug-related crimes, the LDEA burned 772 plates of high-grade marijuana and 8 boxes of Tramadol.
This symbolic act serves as a strong message to those involved in the illegal drug trade, emphasizing the agency’s dedication to keeping Liberia drug-free.
The destruction ceremony was attended by LDEA Director General, Anthony K. Souh, who expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the County Attorney and the Joint Security of Lofa County in tackling the drug trade.
“Our collective efforts continue to make Liberia a safer place,” said DG Souh, applauding the hard work and dedication of all involved.
Special acknowledgement was also given to Precious Rue, Acting Chief of Leeward S/A, for her proactive leadership.
Rue ensured that the necessary authorities were present to witness the destruction, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in the fight against illicit drugs.
The LDEA has remained resolute in its mission to eliminate illegal drugs from the streets of Liberia.
With the continued support of local authorities and citizens, the agency aims to reduce the prevalence of drug abuse and trafficking, thereby safeguarding the well-being and future of Liberia’s citizens.
As Liberia faces mounting challenges related to drug trafficking, the LDEA’s actions serve as a testament to the country’s commitment to justice and public safety.
Through collaborative efforts and strong leadership, Liberia continues its ongoing battle to rid the nation of dangerous and illegal substances.
