Representative Marie G. Johnson of Grand Gedeh Electoral District 2 (Konobo District) has embarked on a Thank You Tour to express her gratitude to the citizens who supported her victory in last year’s election.
The events running from February 9 to March 1, 2025, will take her across various towns and communities in the district, reaffirming her commitment to unity, development, and effective representation.
Rep. Johnson’s Thank You Tour is more than a gesture of appreciation, it is an opportunity for direct engagement with her constituents. She aims to listen to their concerns, understand their needs, and strengthen her connection with the people she serves.
“This is not just a ceremonial visit. It is a time for me to personally connect with my people, listen to their challenges, and assure them that their voices will always be heard at the national level,” she emphasized.
The tour will include interactions with community members, participation in cultural activities, and distribution of symbolic gifts to reinforce solidarity.
During the tour, Rep. Johnson will distribute lappas to women’s groups and social clubs in the Konobo and Kanneh belts, recognizing their vital role in the district. The lappa distribution, a long-standing tradition, symbolizes unity, cultural pride, and empowerment.
She will also engage directly with men in the district, acknowledging their leadership in households and their contributions to community development.
In Ziah Town, community members expressed their appreciation for Rep. Johnson’s service by donating two cows, a gesture led by Philip Zulu of Barliken and Madam Susannah Quaye. Other residents have also made contributions in support of the event, demonstrating the strong bond between the representative and her constituents.
Such acts of goodwill highlight the community’s shared commitment to governance and development, reinforcing the principle that leadership is a collective effort.
Rep. Johnson’s journey across the district follows a structured itinerary to ensure she reaches as many residents as possible. Her planned stops include: February 9 – Arrival in Zwedru, February 11-12 – Community engagement in Zwedru, February 14-15 – Visits to Tchien, Zonee, Gleplay, and Tougbalee; participation in cultural programs, February 16-17 – Visit and overnight stay in Barwu and Glio and February 18-22 – Tour continues through various towns.

Beyond gratitude, the Thank You Tour serves as a platform for dialogue. By directly engaging with citizens, Rep. Johnson gains valuable insights into their challenges and priorities, ensuring that legislative efforts align with their real needs.
“This tour is about more than just saying ‘thank you.’ It is about making sure my leadership remains connected to the grassroots. True governance is about listening, learning, and delivering on promises,” Rep. Johnson stated.
Her approach to leadership rooted in appreciation, engagement, and inclusivity sets a model for strengthening democratic values and fostering a deeper connection between representatives and their communities.
