Gompa City Mayor Samuel Hardt has endorsed Representative Samuel Kogar’s senatorial bid in Nimba.
Speaking to reporters in Gompa, Mayor Hardt disclosed that Representative Kogar, is the most experienced, long serving lawmaker that is politically matured to represent the county in the Liberian Senate.
According to Mayor Hardt, Representative Kogar is the best senatorial candidate in the race that is developmentally oriented and well experienced in politics .
“Representative Kogar, if elected, will follow the footstep of the late Senator Prince Yormie Johnson in defending the county politically,” Mayor Hardt pointed out.
Mayor Hardt’s endorsement has been received with mixed reactions in some communities in Gompa and other surrounding towns in Nimba.
Speaking to the Inquirer, a senior LIS officer assigned at the Immigration check point in Gompa, said Hardt’s endorsement is designed to satisfy Vice President Jeremiah Koung and to protect his position.
Mayor Hardt is the third government official to openly declare support to Representative Kogar following an endorsement event with cross sections of the Nimba lawmakers in Sanniquellie.
Representative Kogar is among the seven candidates but is highly favored by many of the lawmakers including VP Koung and continues to receive endorsements in the county.
Meanwhile, as the campaign now enters its second week former Deputy Minister of Commerce, Madam Jemima Wolokollie has landed her weight behind the senatorial bid of Representative Samuel Gongben Kogar.
