A meeting involving representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, presided over by Clan Chief Matthew Vlenn of Gblor Dialah Town geared toward providing land for Burkinabe in the forest, ended in a deadlock in Nimba county.
Speaking at the program over the weekend, Chief Vlenn disclosed that the visit to Gblor Dialah was designed to meet with the residents to allow Burkinabe carry out farming activities in the clan’s reserved forest.
Speaking on behalf of the Burkinabe, the coordinator, Maxim Nuah, disclosed that he and the Burkinabe are working together as farmers and he is the direct representative of the Burkinabe in the district.
Since the beginning of April 2025, a report linked Vlenn to receiving huge cash of CFA from the Burkinabe through Maxim Nuah , to beg the residents of Gblor clan in Nimba.
However, the Kweepea Town Zone Chief Dokro refused the cash offered to allow the Burkinabe to go in the forest.
“For the issue of Burkinabe, I don’t agree, the forest is the clan reserved forest,” zone chief Dokro revealed.
In Rorlay Town, Murphy Menlor, a retired officer of the Ministry of Agriculture frowned at chief Vlenn for attempting to impose Burkinabe to take over the town’s national reserved forest without the knowledge of the county administration.
“Burkinabe were allegedly dishing out some cash to clan chief Matthew Vlenn to beg on their behalf,” Darwon Gaye, a resident of Kweepea Town stated.
When this paper contacted Doe District Commissioners Chris Joe via mobile phone on the issue, his phone rang without answer.
When this outlet further contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs county administrative officer, Daniel Zekpeh via mobile phone, the phone was switched off up to press time.
