The toughest face of the football league season for Liberia this year is up with traditional clubs Invincible Eleven (IE) and Mighty Barrolle under serious threats of relegation due to poor performance in the national first division league.
With three matches remaining to end the season, these two clubs graded and recorded to be the oldest existing club in the competition are among seven teams that are yet to find a permanent slot in the first division for the next season.
Currently, the Majestic Sports Association Invincible Eleven is the least team on the league table in terms of points accumulation from 23 matches played in the topflight while their traditional rival Mighty Barrolle just two points better than them and a slot advantage ahead.
The relegation is occupied by Barrolle with 23 points, Freeport Football Club with 22 points and Invincible Eleven with 21 points. There is now a nine-point advantage up for all teams in the league with a greater burden on the last three to collect more points through anticipated wins that will improve their standing.
Other teams that are not yet safe to confirm their stay in the nation’s topflight are those that have not yet met the threshold of 33 points ahead of the last three round of matches.
These clubs include LISCR 29 points, LPRC Oilers 28 points, Black Man Warriors 26 points and Shaita Football Club 23 points. The limited points gap with in the lower region of the 14 teams log makes it more interesting for competitive football to be witnessed by various teams’ supporters in the coming days.
With Fassell Football Club seeking just a single point to win the current championship, it is clear that teams in the golden save region will keep propelling their squads to fight for a better final slot at the completion of the season.
Heaven Eleven 41 points, Discoveries Sports Academy 39 points, Global Pharma 36 points, Watanga 35 points, Paynesville Football Club 34 points and Bea Mountain 33 points are all hopeful to be in the topflight next season alongside FC Fassell the presumptive champions.
Meanwhile, Wologizi and Jubilee Football Clubs in the second division league have both secured two of the slots that will participate in the 2025/2026 national first division league of the Liberia Football Association.
