ForumCiv Liberia has launched its 2025–2028 Country Strategy; a roadmap for sustainable development, civil society empowerment, and democratic governance in Liberia.
ForumCIV Liberia’s operations involve four main areas, including development cooperation, sub-granting, advocacy, and capacity-building development.
In these areas, ForumCIV implements and supports more than a hundred projects in 80 countries around the world. ForumCIV’s vision for “a just and sustainable world where all people have the power to affect change”.
ForumCiv is a Swedish organization that supports civil society.
Speaking at the launching ceremony on April 3, 2025, ForumCiv Country Representative to Liberia, Asa David Chon, said that the strategy aligns with ForumCiv 2024–2033 Policy Platform and supports the national development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With a vision of a just and sustainable Liberia, he revealed that the strategy focuses on human rights, democracy, and governance; land rights and natural resource management; gender equality; and environmental and climate justice.
Mr. Chon Further noted the process aims at strengthening civil and political rights, promoting inclusive governance, advocating for transparent land management, combating gender-based violence, and empowering communities to address climate challenges.
The ForumCiv Liberia Country Representative stressed that the entity will leverage its expertise in grants administration, community mobilization, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement while addressing key challenges such as the weak rule of law, land disputes, gender inequality, climate threats, and discrimination against marginalized groups.
Moreover, he said the partnerships with government institutions, civil society actors, academia, and corporate stakeholders will be critical to implementing this strategy effectively.
Meanwhile, former Paramount Chief of Electoral District 3 in Bong County, Mary Larteh officially launched the four-year strategy.
The former Paramount Chief of Jorquelleh District 3 lauded ForumCiv Liberia for the initiative, adding that it will help enhance the work of the government and civil society organizations.
Madam Larteh expressed her gratitude to international partners for their support of ForumCiv Liberia. The ceremony was attended by donors, civil society, and ministries and agencies of government who committed to support the implementation of the strategy.
