‘Electrical Glitch Not Fuel Shortage’ -LAA Management Restores Power Supply At RIA

The management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) directed by Jero Mends-Cole has successfully restored power supply at Roberts International Airport (RIA) following Sunday’s outrage that raised concerns among travelers and stakeholders.
The restoration occurred after reports circulated linking the power issues to an alleged fuel shortage affecting the airport’s generators.
LAA management, through its release, clarified the situation, emphasizing that the power disruption was due to electrical challenges from the ongoing works implemented by the Liberia Electricity Corporation rather than a fuel deficit.
“We regret to inform the public and all airport users of an electrical glitch the airport experienced due to ongoing works by the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC),” the release stated.
The Authority said, “It was a temporary technical issue that has now been resolved. We are committed to ensuring that Roberts International Airport runs smoothly and efficiently.”
Passengers at RIA expressed frustration over the intermittent power outages, which caused delays and inconveniences a fortnight ago.
Meanwhile, the LAA’s quick response to restore power has been met with relief from both travelers and airport staff.
The LAA said the institution is taking steps to enhance the reliability of its power systems and minimize future disruptions.
The robust efforts of the LAA to maintain airport operations have underscored their commitment to passenger safety and service quality, as Liberia continues to strive for improvements in its aviation sector.
