The Cuttington University has officially capped and badged 97 students from the Herbert and Marion Donovan College of Health Sciences, which marks a significant milestone in their quest to become professional healthcare providers in Liberia.
Mrs. Ruth Sumo Gibdersleeves, Dean of the Herbert & Marion Donovan College of Health Sciences at Cuttington University revealed that the students had successfully completed and fulfilled all course requirements outlined by the college and the university.
The Cuttington University Health Sciences’ Dean said the students Capped and Badged were vetted and approved by their respective department heads/advisors based on the academic standards of the University.
Madam Gibdersleeves requested the university’s administration to approve the students’ transition into their clinical and community outreach programs, signaling the next phase of their practical training.
51 students came from the nursing department which included 5 males and 46 females, while the Physician Assistant department had 41 students, 23 males and 18 females; a total of 97 students were capped, badged, and coated.
Meanwhile, Cuttington University President Dr. Romelle A. Horton, lauded the Dean of the Herbert and Marion Donovan College of Health Sciences and her team for their dedication to maintaining academic excellence at the College and the University at large.
The Cuttington University President further admonished the students to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the healthcare system as they advance in their healthcare careers.
“I challenge each of you to always think about ways to innovate in your chosen profession, ways to get over obstacles that have stopped others, ways to create new things, and ways to solve problems and serve your patients,” the CU President urged.
Dr. Horton encouraged the students to be resilient and committed to the nursing profession, which they chose to do to improve the Country’s health system.
The capping and badging ceremony was held over the weekend, at the University’s main campus in Suakoko District 5, in Bong County.
