The Weala District Conference of the Concerned United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Margibi County is soliciting support for an ongoing junior high school project in the area.
It can be recalled that in late December of 2024 the church broke grounds for the construction of the school which will contain several classrooms and offices for administrative staff respectively and it is now above foundation level.
The project which is located in James Dennis Town, Wealal, Margibi County
appears to be the biggest capital investment in the Concerned United Methodist Church especially in the Weala District Conference and it is valued at a little over US$156,000.
Speaking to reporter at the project site recently, the Weala District Conference Superintendent of the CUMC, Rev. Augustine Dakepine said the church does not have any other source of income.
According to him, the project is only being supported by the membership of the Weala District Conference and the annual conference of the Concerned United Methodist Church.
“So, that is the reason why we are focusing on that because we don’t have anybody from outside who is supporting us. Everyone you see here whether it’s a child the five dollars or ten cent that comes from their pocket those ten cents or five cents are what we are using by the grace of God to do these works” he explained.
Rev. Dakepine intoned that the fact that the Weala District Conference has to wait for its members to converge and then raise fund to support the project, it is a serious challenge for them.
The CUMC District Superintendent is therefore calling on well-meaning Liberians, national and international NGOs, government officials and the Christian community among others to see reason in supporting the project.
He then assured the membership of the church that whatever cent or dollar that will be raised will be used for the genuine implementation of the school project.
