The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Daniel McCarthy, described Princess Zuo’s tragic end as a sobering reminder of the consequences of unchecked sin.
He warned scores of mourners that evil escalates when it is not confronted with repentance and spiritual guidance noting, “Every time we commit murder, commit atrocities, or sin against God, we bring ourselves into spiritual danger.”
“Sin is a chain reaction. One sin leads to another, and before you know it, lives are destroyed,” he reiterated while delivering a fiery sermon at the funeral service of Princess Zuo who was tragically stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, Bill Jallah, following a reported breakup on Duport Road,
He urged those struggling with sin to seek forgiveness and turn away from wrongdoing before it is too late pointing out, “If we do not confess and turn away from our wrongdoings, they will only grow worse. Hiding our sins does not make them disappear. Instead, it allows them to grow and consume us. True repentance brings spiritual healing and redemption.”
McCarthy who also addressed moral discipline within the church, revealed that defendant Jallah had been removed from his leadership position due to moral failings.
He further reaffirmed that the church maintains high moral standards and does not tolerate actions that contradict its teachings adding, “We must correct our brothers and sisters in love. If someone falls, we must guide them back but, they must also show genuine repentance before they can be restored.”
McCarthy urged the congregation to recognize the signs of the times and prepare spiritually for the challenges ahead referencing wars, disasters, and increasing immorality as reminders to draw closer to God.
“We are living in perilous times. We hear of disasters, wars, and destruction everywhere. This should remind us to prepare ourselves spiritually. The day will come when we will all stand before God. Will we be ready?” he rhetorically questioned.
He concluded by encouraging members to live according to the gospel; warning that the time to prepare for God’s judgment is now.
“As the world faces turmoil and destruction, let us not be caught unprepared. We must turn away from sin, embrace the teachings of Christ, and seek salvation before it is too late,” he said.
While encouraging congregants to repent, embrace righteousness, and prepare for their eternal journey, McCarthy emphasized the sanctity of life, the dangers of moral corruption, and the responsibility of believers to live according to God’s commandments.
Preaching from the text Matthew 18:15, McCarthy, reminded the congregation that life is a test. He therefore called on everyone to prepare for their final judgment before God.
He likened life to a journey, explaining that just as travelers prepare for their destination, people must prepare spiritually for their return to their Creator.
“We came from the presence of God. This life is a probationary state, a time to prepare for eternity. We must use it wisely and ensure that when we leave this world therefore, we must be ready to return to His presence, “he said.
The preacher strongly condemned murder and the shedding of innocent blood, calling it one of the gravest sins before God.
He warned that murder takes many forms, including physical violence and abortion; which he equated to the taking of a life.
“Somebody might say, I have a girlfriend, and she got pregnant for me or I have a boyfriend and I got pregnant for him but, I am not ready for a child. So they go to the doctor and ask for a criminal abortion. How do you call that? That is murder,“ he declared.
McCarthy spoke at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Barnerville Road where the body of Princess, a mother of a child and born on November 12, 1994 was taken for memorial through tributes by loved ones and sympathizers.
Meanwhile, Defendant Jallah has since been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison after being charged with murder, attempted murder, and aggravated assault following the brutal stabbing of Princess Zuo on December 21, 2024 near the Fast Nikel Entertainment Center at Joe Bar, Paynesville.
According to the police charge sheet, defendant Jallah stabbed Princess multiple times in the chest and back after an argument that began at the entertainment center. Princess, who worked in Congo Town, was then rushed to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
