President Joseph Boakai has convened a high-level meeting with former Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Liberia and Tanzania.
The discussions, which took place over the weekend at the Executive Mansion, centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation, promoting world peace, and fostering African solidarity.
President Boakai emphasized the importance of fostering stronger ties between the two African nations to drive development and mutual progress.
He reflected on his first meeting with former President Kikwete during discussions on the Millennium Challenge Compact and mentioned his recent visit to Tanzania for the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam.
President Boakai however, expressed pride in his ongoing role as a Special Envoy, reaffirming his commitment to supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan and advancing the welfare of the Tanzanian people.
He further stated that, he would work closely with President Hassan to strengthen the long-standing and fruitful relationship between Liberia and Tanzania.
President Boakai also extended warm messages of goodwill to the government and people of Tanzania, wishing President Hassan continued personal well-being and success in her leadership.
Former President Kikwete, in turn, expressed his desire to return to Liberia for a future visit, renowned for his leadership and advocacy for regional integration, reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to working closely with Liberia on shared interests.
Both leaders highlighted the need for enhanced collaboration in economic policies, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange.
The meeting marks a significant step in Liberia’s diplomatic engagements under President Boakai’s administration, signaling efforts to bolster international partnerships for national development.
