President Joseph Boakai has pledged a contribution of US $15,000 to the Christian Education Foundation of Liberia, an institution affiliated with the legacy of venerated Liberian educator and religious leader, Dr. Abba G. Karnga.
The announcement was made during a special ceremony marking Kranga’s 95th birthday celebration on April 5, 2025 held in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.
The event brought together family members, friends, and admirers of Dr. Karnga, who has long been celebrated for his commitment to Christian values, education, and national development.
In his remarks, President Boakai praised Dr. Karnga for his lifelong service to Liberia through education and faith.
He described the nonagenarian (a person in 90th year of birth) as a man of integrity whose legacy is reflected in the lives of his children, the Christian Community, and the many students shaped by his teachings.
“When I asked him what he wanted us to contribute, he said he has an institution focused on education. So, we will contribute US$15,000 to the Christian Education Foundation of Liberia as a gift,” President Boakai stated.
President Boakai, who recounted a long-standing friendship with Dr. Karnga, commended him for being a quiet yet impactful nation-builder whose writings and principles have deeply influenced many Liberians.
“Dr. Karnga never sought to be president, but rather to see a good country,” Boakai added. “That is a legacy worth honoring,” he said.
The donation, he said, is not only a gift to the school but also a symbol of national gratitude for Dr. Karnga’s enduring service to education and moral leadership in Liberia.
The 95th birthday celebration was marked by a tone of reflection and appreciation for a man whose life has spanned decades of educational and spiritual contributions.
