Residents of the Airfield Shortcut Community, yesterday, February 3, 2025, woke up to shock after a 32-year-old man identified as Jesse Gleegbar, was discovered dead in his bedroom on the Airfield in Sinkor.
Jesse, who was an ardent supporter of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) during the 2023 Presidential elections, lifeless body was discovered by friends, community dwellers and family members four days after he was reported missing.
The incident has since left residents of the community in total panic, grief and outrage, raising questions about the safety of the country’s citizenry and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
According to family sources, Jesse was last seen three days before his death, and after numerous unanswered calls to his phone, they decided to forcibly open his door, where they found him lying dead.
A resident of the community, John Bidoe, spoken to by this paper, narrated, “Jesse and I were friends. We were together three days ago, and while talking, that was how he told me that he had a meeting to attend, and that was how he left, but only to hear about his death this morning; I am really sad.”
Bidoe added, “This is so shocking and a devastating loss. We will really miss Jesse because he was so down-to-earth and a brother to me. Always checking on me and assisting me in so many ways. I am broken!”
Also, his family and friends have expressed shock over his passing, with a call for an immediate investigation into circumstances surrounding Jesse’s death, ensuring that the perpetrator(s) are brought to justice.
“We want to know what happened to Jesse because he was a good man who cared deeply about his friends and community. Jesse was never the talking or walking about type. So, we, as community dwellers, demand justice for Jesse and deserve to know the truth,” Paul Lobo lamented.
Another Friend of the late Jesse, Peterlyn Paye, noted, “We will not let Jesse’s death be in vain. We will continue to fight for justice for him and ensure that we establish the actual cause for his untimely death.”
Meanwhile, the body of Jesse was kept in his room till 12:00 p.m., awaiting the arrival of the Liberia National Police (LNP).
When contacted, Police Spokesperson Cecelia Clarke said she could not verify the information but promised to get back to us in due time.
