ANC Reconciles Partizans -As 2 Make Comeback

The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has welcomed Nimba County District 9 Representative Taa Z. Wongbe back into the party’s fold, signaling a new era of reconciliation and strategic unity within the opposition bloc.
The welcoming ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the ANC national headquarters in Monrovia, brought together senior party officials, supporters, and well-wishers who gathered to witness what many consider a significant boost to the ANC’s political strength ahead of future national elections.
Marking remarks, ANC’s political leader Alexander B. Cummings welcomed the lawmaker with open arms, describing the moment as “a step forward for unity and progress.”
He stated that Taa’s return is not just symbolic, it is strategic.
He brings with him a bold vision, grassroots credibility, and a deep passion for Liberia’s transformation.
This is a time for consolidation, not division. “We’re glad to have him back as we build a formidable team to challenge the status quo,” he said.
What we need to be doing now is to build the institution, party, and movements. Adding, because the country is struggling and the ANC is the only party that is offering fundamental change to Liberia.
He urged ANC partisans to advocate for the party in their respective communities, churches, market-places, schools and mosques. He also encouraged all Liberians who care to see real change in the nation to join the ANC so that the country can benefit.
He however endorsed Edith Gongloe in the up-coming Nimba County Senatorial by-election, emphasizing that, ANC is alive and well, you will see more aggression because it is a vibrant party.
Nimba County District 9 Representative Taa Z. Wongbe, who previously broke away from the ANC due to what he described as internal disarray and marginalization, used the occasion to clarify his return and express confidence in the party’s leadership under Alexander B. Cummings.
Wongbe’s return to the ANC is especially noteworthy given his previous criticisms. In May 2023, he publicly declared that the party was “in disarray” and that he had faced internal attacks.
His renewed allegiance to the ANC points to healing rifts and a shared understanding that unity is crucial in the fight for a better Liberia.
“After deep reflection and consultation with my supporters and constituents, I have decided to realign with the ANC,” Rep. Wongbe said.
According to him, it is not about personal interests it is about what is best for the future of Liberia. The ANC, under Mr. Cummings’ leadership, has demonstrated a renewed commitment to discipline, accountability, and national development, and I’m proud to rejoin this movement,” he added.
Political observers say this development could energize the party’s support base in Nimba County and beyond, potentially rebranding the ANC as a stronger opposition force heading into 2029.
The event concluded with chants of “Stronger Together,” as supporters held hands in unison.
