The All-Liberian Diaspora Women Organization (ALDWO) has announced a major milestone in its mission to empower vulnerable communities.
The organization according to its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gbolo Ashia Kowou-Howah, has acquired five acres of land in Todee District, Montserrado County, for the construction of a resource and vocational training center for women and children.
This transformative facility, Madam Kowou-Howah said will feature 25 rooms, providing essential spaces for vocational training, economic empowerment, and social rehabilitation.
She explained that the US$200,000.00 project will begin with an initial US$50,000.
The ALDWO CEO states that the initiative will enroll 60 participants every six months and will serve as a beacon of hope for disadvantaged women, survivors of gender-based violence, rape victims, and vulnerable street children.
The training programs, she indicated will include tailoring, beauty and cosmetology, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, soap making, and digital skills among several others. Following the training, graduates will receive start-up kits to launch small businesses and reintegrate into their respective communities.
She said the facility when constructed, will also serve as a safe home for abandoned and vulnerable street children.
