A devastating accident near the city of Buchanan has left two individuals seriously injured after a high-speed collision between a jeep and a tricycle. The victims, John DS Flomo and Weleh Cee, suffered multiple fractures, including broken legs and a broken arm, and are currently receiving medical care.
The crash occurred late evening near Tase Town when a blue jeep, reportedly speeding from Monrovia, slammed into a tricycle carrying the two victims.
Flomo and Cee, who were transporting bags of cassava for processing, were thrown from the vehicle upon impact.
Emergency responders and bystanders quickly rushed to the scene. Bobby Dukuly, the driver of the jeep, recounted the moment of the crash. “I was driving toward Buchanan when I suddenly saw the tricycle crossing the road. I didn’t have enough time to stop, and we collided,” he said.
In the immediate aftermath, Dukuly assisted in transporting the injured men to the Liberia Government Hospital.
However, following consultations with their families, they were transferred to the Rescuer Clinic, where they are now undergoing treatment. Medical staff have indicated that both will require extensive care to fully recover.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are expected to examine factors such as vehicle speed, visibility conditions, and possible negligence.
As the investigation unfolds, Flomo and Cee continue to receive medical attention, with their families hoping for a full recovery.
