The legal proceeding between Punch FM Manager, Patrick Honnah and the Ministry of Information has finally been listed for hearing during this March Term of the Supreme Court.
The court on Wednesday confirmed that the case is among several civil cases for litigation for this March Term of Court.
Accordingly, the government lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the subordinate court’s ruling in favor of Punch FM Manager, Honnah after the court confirmed that the Station Manager met all the legal requirements to operate a radio station in the country consistent with law.
The latest decision to hear PUNCH FM case followed a two-day hunger protest staged by a Liberian journalist, Kerkula Solon, a lone protester at the United States Embassy in Monrovia and other embassies recently.
The former Radio VERITAS and Democrat reporter held placards with inscriptions; one calling on President George Manneh Weah’s administration to allow journalist Patrick Honnah’s PUNCH FM to be opened, while the other stated, “This is unfair, Mr. Patrick Honnah won the case; he will not PUNCH this government, especially when this government has nothing to hide.”
