The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) Freeport Detachment has broken grounds for the construction of it sub-office in the Cow Factory belt along the Japan Freeway corridor.
The ground breaking ceremony which took place over the weekend is in the tune of a little over US$2,000 and the timeframe for the construction work is expected to last for a little over a year period.
The LIS Deputy Commissioner for Naturalization, Atty. Asatu Bah-Kenneth, lauded the Freeport Detachment Commander for the building project which is expected to commence anytime soon.
She stated that the soon-to-be constructed office is the manifestation that the LIS under the leadership of Commissioner General, Robert W. Budy is making significant strive amidst the many challenges confronting the LIS.
According to her, the construction work when finished will help eliminate the burden LIS officers normally go through in finding a conducive place for them to rest while on duty as well as enable them store their various document for proper account.
Atty. Bah-Kenneth then used the occasion to recognize the LIS Freeport Detachment as the best detachment of the year due to their level of work done over the course of the year, while at the same time presented a check of US$300 as her own contribution towards the building construction.
The LIS Freeport Detachment Commander, Josephine B. N Cheopoo, also lauded the her bosses for the confidence impose in her to lead the Freeport detachment stating that from the beginning it was not easy, yet it was worthy.
According to her, the construction of the building would not have been possible without the help of her able lieutenants who she said have been very instrumental in ensuring that the LIS Freeport Detachment gets its own office space.
She then pledged her team’s fullest support in ensuring that the dream and aspiration of her bosses are actualized for the betterment of the country while at the same time promised to make sure that the building is constructed at the stipulated time.
Also in remark, the Cow Dealers Union and Truckers Union lauded the team for the initiative and promised their fullest support towards the construction of the building while at the same pledged a total of 15 and 20 bags of cements respectively.
