Alleged Armed Robber Nabbed In Ganta By Police

A 26-year old man, Melvin Kpolar, was over the weekend nabbed by the Liberia National Police officers for allegedly being an armed robber in the commercial city of Ganta, Nimba County.
According to the LNP, the suspect is among several notorious criminals wanted by the Liberia National Police for various criminal offences carried out in the county.
The Police told this paper that suspect Melvin Kpolar, allegedly armed robbed a business center in the commercial city in Ganta and made away with about USD9, 000 and vanished in thin air.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) added that suspect Melvin Kpolar, is a friend of two notorious criminals nicknamed ‘Black Jesus and fight the war’ who have been linked to several alleged armed robbery with one which resulted to fierce shooting in the night around the Old UBA Bank when a commercial vehicle carrying marketers was attacked in September 2020 in Ganta, Nimba County.
According to the LNP, suspect Melvin Kpolar is a resident of Kpan Township in Lao Clan, Nimba County who presently resides in the commercial city in Ganta, Nimba County.
When this paper contacted suspect Melvin Kpolar at the Police Station in Ganta, he denied the LNP allegations of armed robbery coupled with other criminal offences, but admitted of being a best friend of Black Jesus and Fight the war. He stated that he had never gone out on any armed robbery spree with them to rob anybody in Ganta as alleged by the Police in the county.
Ganta is among several growing cities in the country that tops in criminal offences most especially during the Christmas season in Liberia.
Speaking in separate remarks, Chief of Criminal Investigation Department assigned at the Ganta Police Station Redeemer Toe, said that the suspect is undergoing investigation to gather all facts before he can be charged under the law.
