The Liberia National Police (LNP) will today, conclude its investigation into the mysterious death of a child identified as Joseph J. Kollie Jr. recently in the Morris Farm community in Paynesville.
Making the disclosure via phone yesterday, police spokesperson, Moses Carter said that the Police are now at the verge of completing its investigation into circumstances surrounding little Joseph’s mysterious death.
Mr. Carter who was reluctant to provide an update about the child’s death stated, “I do not want to rush in disclosing findings about the investigation but all I can say is that by today, we will be concluding our investigation and as soon as that is done, we will definitely inform the public about the outcome through the media.”
However, the Liberia National Police over the weekend disclosed that they were investigating two individuals; the little boy’s grandfather, George Kpawulu 68, and the private security, David Akoi 34 who they considered as ‘persons of interest’ in connection to the child’s mysterious death.
It can be recalled that, little Joseph J. Kollie Jr. 4, was allegedly killed by an unknown individual or individuals with several of his body parts extracted.
According to information gathered by this paper, the sad incident occurred at Paynesville on Sunday, December 14, in the Morris Farm community minutes after little Kollie and his father, Joseph J. Kollie Sr. had eaten their Sunday meal prepared by his mother, Yassa Kollie.
Some eyewitnesses spoken to narrated that the deceased and his father were eaten when he heard a sound on their gate, stating that it was at that point little Kollie went to see who was pounding on the gate around the hour of 3:00 P.M. on Sunday.
According to them, after few minutes of not being seen or heard from, it was at which time his father and their gateman went in search of him only to find his lifeless body lying in a poll of blood far from their residence by 7:00 P.M. without his private parts, vocal cord, nose, two lips and both eyes.
The eyewitnesses further expressed their dissatisfaction in the form and manner in which little Kollie was allegedly murdered by the unknown individuals, a situation many people have described as very scaring and worrisome for the community dwellers especially during this critical time.
Meanwhile, our reporter who visited the scene gathered that the deceased parent’s gateman identified as David Akoi who was on duty when the little boy was murdered was arrested and turned over to the Liberia National Police (LNP) as a prime suspect for investigation.
According to him, little Kollie parents’ decision to arrest and turn him over to the LNP as prime suspect was as the result of Mr. Akoi’s suspicious facial outlook shown during the discovery of little Kollie’s lifeless body.
He added that many residents of the community expressed consternation due to the mysterious death of the little boy with some of them saying that the act is something that is very strange within the community and as such, they are calling on national government to beef up the security in the community.
The community inhabitants are also calling on the government to hastily investigate the little Kollie’s death in order for the perpetrator or perpetrators to be prosecuted according to the law.
