Members of the House of Representatives, both former and current, on Thursday, September 3, 2020, paid emotional tribute to their former colleague who got killed fortnight ago in Monrovia.
Madam Malai Gouto Gbogar of Electoral District #2, of Gbarpolu County, was killed week ago on the Old Road when a vehicle ran into her while sitting in front of her house.
But with wailing and weeping amongst members of the House of Representatives, mourners and family members, House Speaker Bhofal Chambers said that it’s the Lord who giveth and taketh.
Speaking yesterday at the signing of the book of condolence for the fallen lawmaker, the Speaker stated among many things that death is inevitable any moment.
He said the death of the former lawmaker was a loss to the country and its people because her contributions are immeasurable.
The book was signed by members of both Houses including Senators Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence and Darius Dillon. Other members were Representatives Kanie Wesso, Thomas Goshua among others.
Her remains are expected to be transported to Gbarpolu County where a funeral service will be performed this weekend in Bopolu.
Since July of this year, former Representative Malai is the third representative that will be laid to rest this weekend in her hometown.
Before then, there were two others; the late Jaye Nagbe Sloh of Electoral District #2, Sinoe County, and Munah Pelham-Youngblood of Electoral District #9, Montserrado County were recently laid to rest as well.
