An officer of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), James Duma alias E-Man, during the early morning of June 27, 2020, allegedly shot a female identified as Mildred Tamba to death around the View Point Entertainment Center in the 72nd community in Paynesville.
Speaking to this paper at the scene of the incident, an eyewitness, Abraham T. Young narrated that after officer E-Man and his girlfriend had taken in some alcohol, later decided to leave the bar for their home, stating that to their utmost surprise, all they could hear was the screaming of his girlfriend around the 72nd Junction.
According to Young, it was when the deceased Tamba and her fiancee decided to intervene to ascertain as to why he was beating on his girlfriend, noting that upon the intervention of deceased Tamba’s boyfriend and other angry crowd, it was when officer E-Man started threatening that anyone getting closer to him will be immediately shot to death.
He added, “E-Man was also telling Tamba’s boyfriend and the other boys that, “I feel like killing tonight and minutes after that statement, it was when he (E-Man) pulled out his gun and pressed the trigger thereby sending a bullet in the head of Tamba who is believed to be a relative of District #5 Representative, Thomas Fallah.”
Young further stated that though officer E-Man was under the influence of alcohol prior to allegedly committing the act, but alluded that the attitude exhibited by the officer was not the first of its kind, as in recent times, he (E-Man) after taking alcohol nearly killed the officer of the View Point Entertainment Center upon releasing his firearm.
Meanwhile, when phoned, the Liberia National Police (LNP) spokesperson, Moses Carter declined on speaking on the matter, while at the same time directed me to the LNP official Facebook page for update concerning the incident.
When visited, information posted on the LNP official Facebook said that the LNP with immediate effect has disrobed and turned over officer James Duma with ID, 2720, for investigation on account of his alleged shooting to death of Mildred Tamba, and is now currently in custody of the LNP.
