CDC Urged On Primaries For Senatorial Elections

Two Senior members of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have called on the party to begin work with coalition leaderships in the counties to start early preparations pending details from Headquarters.
Chairman Mulbah Morlu and Mr. James Biney, secretary general of the CDC in a communication, recalled that when the governing council of the CDC convened in a special session on Saturday February 29, 2020, it agreed that no constituent party in the Coalition is exclusively entitled to seats because the Articles of Collaboration that brought the parties together clearly suggest that the parties agreed to form a single slate of candidates for 2017 elections
They ssid the council also agreed that the Coalition shall derive its mid-term senatorial candidates using the primary system. Each party in the Coalition shall commit the same number of delegates and the primaries will be conducted in the counties;
It was also agreed upon that in counties where the Coalition does not field candidates, especially where parties that collaborated with the Coalition field candidates, the Coalition shall convene and make determination.
The two also said during the gathering, it was said that those who belong to the Coalition constituent parties but did not support the Coalition in the 2017 elections, especially those who openly or publicly declared support to other parties, may qualify to contest in the Coalition county primaries comprising the three parties if they commit to the Coalition.
