And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. (Genesis 2:22).
And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. (Genesis 3:20). (Adam included).
Mothers, God’s gift to all mankind, from the beginning called out and chosen and of incredible value. “Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” (Psalm 127:3). “Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.” (Psalm 128:3).
Motherhood, more than sisterhood, brotherhood, knighthood and social groups, gangs and powerful cultural organizations, because without mothers none of these would be able to exist.
The burden of mothers has always been placed in the experience of women from the beginning of time and continues unto today. “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis 3:15). “And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Luke 2:34-35).
Mother, we are carriers, the birthers of the dreams, visions, kingdoms, the names recorded of History’s powerful, known and unknown, the weak, the strong, rich and poor. Our blood flows throughout the lives of mankind all over the world. The depth of fulfillment and great joy is found in motherhood which gave to us a redeeming story!
Be proud, feel powerful because you are the vessel entrusted by God, to deliver His story throughout History! “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.” (Proverbs 31:28-29).
Biblical Accounts of Mothers (Sorrow and Joy)
Eve — * Witnessed first death of a child murder, at the hand of her other son.
Anticipated the birth of another child, in place of the dead one. “And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.8 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand.1′ And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: for God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, who Cain slew.25 And to Seth, to him also there was a son; and he called his name Enos; then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.”26 (Genesis 4:8, 11, 25- 26).
Noah Wife – * Her six children saved only, to replenish mankind.
Sarah — * Laughter of the impossible at 90 years old.
Laughter of fulfillment, the impossible made possible.
Rebecca — * 2 sons Jacob and Esau.
A divided house, but God the promise keeper always keeps His word.
Moses Mother — * My child of destiny and not death.

  • Hid him from Pharaoh. Delivered of God people.
Hannah — * Agony and Passion to conceive.
Conceived and delivered a son (Samuel) and gave him back to God for service!
Ruth — * The restorer of Hope to Naomi. “So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD give her conception, and she bare a son. And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.” (Ruth 4:13-
    16).
Elizabeth – * Old age child, mother of John the Baptist. “And behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And it came to pass that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.” (Luke 1: 36-37, 41).
Mary — * Mother of Jesus highly favored. “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: aid the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.” (Luke
    1:30-32).
THE TWO OF US MOMMY AND ME
    She ate and drank,
    For the two of us,
    Mommy and me!
    She rested and slept
    For the two of us,
    Mommy and me!
    She carried me all around
Held me tight in her belly
    The two of us,
    Mommy and me!
    She breathed the sighed
    She laughed and cried
    And maybe toward the end
    She screamed.
    I was nine months coming
    And again it was just
The two of us, Oh what joy!
    do for me
    Because of what happened
    Between the two of us,
    You will never understand
    Mommy and me!
    Just think you could never
    What mommy did for me,
While I was nine months trying to come
There was just the two of us,
    Mommy and me!
    Now that I’m out and
    Walking all about,
    She still carries me
    Deep inside her heart.
When I look at my mommy,
There is no one who can compare.
    My very beginning
Started with the two of us,
    My mommy and me!
Mommy and me and now all of you!

    A MOTHER’S JOURNEY
[The young mother set her foot on the path of life. “Is the way long? She asked.1 “And her Guide said: Yes. And the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning’.
But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed with them in clear streams; and the sun shone on them and life was good, and the young mother cried, ‘Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.’
Than the night came, and storm, and the path was dark, and the children shock with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, ‘Oh, mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come,’ and the mother said, ‘This is better than the brightness of day for I have taught my children courage.’
And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary, but all times she said to the children, ‘A little patience and we are there.’ So the children climbed, and when they reached the top, they said, we could not have done it without you, mother.’ And the Mother, when she lay down that night, looked at the stars and said: ‘This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage, today I have given the strength.’
“And the next day came strange clouds which darkened the earth — clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped and stumble, and the mother said: ‘Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.’ And the children looked and saw above the clouds and everlasting Glory, and it guided them and brought them beyond the darkness. And that night, the Mother said:
‘This is the best day of all, for I shown my children God.’
“And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the Mother grew old, and she was little and bent.
Burt her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. And when the way was hard, they helped their mother, and the way was rough, they lifted her, she was a light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond the hill they could see a shining road and golden gate flung wide.
“The Mother said: I have reached the end of the journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them.
“And the Children said: ‘You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have
gone through the gates.’ And they stood and watched her as she went, and on alone the gates closed after her. And they said: ‘We cannot see her, but she is with us still.
[A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a part of who we are.”] (Food for Tho’t)
